A local man’s been taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by land ambulance with serious injuries.

Sgt Warren Knight said: “We are trying to establish what happened and are appealing for witnesses – if you heard or saw anything suspicious around this time this morning please contact us.”

Police investigators at the scene are asking anyone who witness the collision, or may have dashcam footage of a pedestrian walking down Mead Way at around 5.40am, to contact them on 101.

An Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) spokesperson said: “We were notified by Wiltshire Police about a serious injury road collision, which happened at Mead Way with the junction of Shaw Road at around 5.50am today.

“No police vehicle was involved and we did not deploy to the scene.

“We understand that there may have been some earlier phone contact between the police and a pedestrian who was injured in the incident and we await a referral from the force in due course to assess the level – if any – of our involvement.”

The roads expected to reopen at around midday. Recovery are at the scene.
