Chippenham woman charged by police over crash involving parked car

A woman’s been charged by police over a crash involving a parked car in Chippenham.

Officers were called to an incident in Saxon Street shortly before 10.30pm on Saturday (15 April).

A silver car collided with a parked black BMW X3 before the driver reportedly left the scene, with locals claiming that police swarmed the area in a bid to locate the suspect.

The BWM, which appeared to have been clamped for no tax, was left with some rear-end damage.

Wendy Stewart, of Wessex Road, was arrested and has since been charged with drink driving.

The 46-year-old will appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 6 June for a plea hearing.
