A Wiltshire man who died when he tried to save his dog from a Cotswold Water Park lake has been named locally.

Chippenham man Cory Nicholson, aged in 20s, was pulled from the water after a day of frantic searching by the emergency services, search and rescue volunteers and the National Police Air Service on Tuesday.

“I ran and raised the alarm. A man who I think was in his fifties jumped into the water accompanied by a strong looking man in his twenties.

“They got to where he was last seen but could not find him. It all happened so quickly.”
