Child pronounced dead after being struck by train between Bath and Bristol

UPDATED 7PM: A child has died after being struck by a train between Bath and Bristol.

Services through Swindon and Chippenham railway stations were affected by the incident near Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park in Keynsham.

Emergency services raced to the scene in the area of Pixash Lane at around 1.25pm, but the young casualty – aged under 18 years – was pronounced dead on arrival.

The British Transport Police has said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

All railway lines reopened at shortly before 4pm, with delays remaining until this evening.
