Casualty airlifted to hospital as two air ambulances land in Potterne

Two air ambulances landed in a Wiltshire town for a medical emergency today (Tuesday).

South Western Ambulance Service was called to an address in Potterne, near Devizes, at around 11.30am.

Two ambulances, Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Great Western Air Ambulance attended the scene.

The nature of the incident is unknown, but one casualty was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, a designated major trauma centre for the county.

Both helicopters landed on a playing field off Ryeleaze, greeted by numerous locals who wanted to get up close and personal with the life-saving aircraft.
