The route was blocked on Caen Hill at the junction for Rowde, between Devizes and Seend.

A casualty was extricated from a silver Peugeot by firefighters, who removed both nearside doors.

The Peugeot sustained significant front-end damage, whilst the other vehicle involved – an Audi – sustained nearside damage.

It’s understood at least one person, a woman, sustained injuries that required hospital treatment – however, her injuries aren’t believed to be serious.

The road was clear by approximately 8pm following vehicle recovery work.

In an earlier statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: We are currently dealing with a collision on the A361 Caen Hill into Devizes.

“The carriageway into the town is closed while emergency services deal. Please seek an alternative route.”
