Bridge over M4 in Swindon closed as police called to welfare concern

Police closed a bridge over the M4 in Swindon this afternoon during a welfare incident.

It’s believed officers were responding to reports of a male on the road bridge above the motorway between Liddington and Chieseldon at around 5.30pm.

A young man, thought to be in his 20s, was taken into the care of the ambulance service after reportedly being detained by the police for his own safety.
