Body found in River Avon search for missing Kondwani Mwale, police confirm

A body has been found in the search for a man who went missing two weeks ago.

Wiltshire Police has this afternoon confirmed the discovery following an intense operation to locate 24-year-old Kondwani Mwale from Trowbridge.

He was last seen alive on the 26 October, when he left Amber House in a distressed state. An immediate search began after a suicide note was posted on his social media accounts.

Since his disappearance, local officers have been joined by divers from Avon and Somerset Police, specialist water dogs from the Metropolitan Police Service and volunteers from Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR) to carry out extensive searches for Kondwani around the River Avon and Warleigh Weir area.

A body was discovered by the weir earlier today and although formal identification has not yet taken place, Kondwani’s family has been informed.
