B&M supermarket told to remove unofficial police energy drink ban posters

A Chippenham supermarket has been told to remove an unofficial poster which says that police have banned the sale of energy drinks to children under the age of 16 years.

In recent weeks, B&M Bargains’ management team put up a number of posters stating that they will no longer sell energy drinks to under 16s at the request of Wiltshire Police.

However, the police say that the ban was not at their request and in light of this story, have told the store to remove the posters from the checkouts.

The decision to ban the sale of energy drinks to under 16s is the choice of the store, which hasn’t sold certain high energy drinks to children since opening.
