Barn fire in Netheravon thought to be deliberate act, Wiltshire Police say

A large barn fire in Netheravon over the weekend is being treated as arson.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on a farm in Wexland Avenue in the early hours of Saturday.

Wiltshire Police say they attended the scene at around 7.30am, following a call from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service who believed the fire was a deliberate act.

A police spokesperson said: “Approximately 50 hay bales had been set on fire and the fire had spread to the barn structure causing significant damage. It is believed the fire was started deliberately.

“Fortunately nobody was injured.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity in the Netheravon area during Saturday morning.

“Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54190060188. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
