UPDATE: Baby and toddler injured in serious head-on crash in Wroughton

A one-year-old and a three-year-old have been injured in a head-on crash in Wroughton.

The serious crash, involving a Mitsubishi SpaceStar and Toyota Aygo, in Wharf Road at around 7.30am, sparked a major emergency service response – including Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

The driver of the Toyota, a man in his 30s, was taken to Southmead Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the Mitsubishi – a man in his 20s, and two children aged one and three, who were passengers in the vehicle, were taken to the Great Western Hospital. One of the children is believed to have suffered a broken arm. None of their injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “The road was closed at the junction with Mill Lane and Salthrop Road for approximately six hours while those involved were treated by paramedics and taken to hospital, and to allow for a collision investigation to take place.

“It reopened at approximately 1.30pm.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have dash cam footage of the collision, to get in touch via 101. Quote log number 65 of December 30.”
