Axeman who injured boy arrested during armed police raid on west Swindon home

A teenage axeman has been arrested during a raid on an address in west Swindon last night.

Police officers were initially called to Sussex Place, off Queens Drive in Walcot, at around 8pm after receiving reports of an incident in the car park near Subway and The Cooperative Food store.

A boy, aged 15, suffered an injury to his back during the incident – thought to be inflicted with an axe.

A short time later, at around 9pm, a number of armed officers raced to an address in Godolphin Close, Freshbrook; a 17-year-old boy was arrested at the property.

“A 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of attempted GBH and was taken to Gablecross police station where he remains in custody. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101.
