At least two arrests made as 25 police officers swarm Penhill estate in Swindon

At least two people have been arrested after a serious incident in the Penhill area of Swindon led more than around 25 police officers onto the estate.

The focus of the police incident was Downton Road, with around 14 police officers having been involved in an arrest thought to be linked to a grey Ford Focus which was seized at the scene.

Another group of officers, including firearms specialist police officers and a drone pilot, were attending a home in Miston Avenue, where one man – in his early 20s – was arrested.

The exact nature of the incident hasn’t yet been confirmed by Wiltshire Police, but one local resident said that a man was seen ‘waving a knife around’. While others said that a group of men had fled on foot from the Ford Focus.

A Tri-force police dog unit was also at the scene assisting with the search for outstanding suspects.

We’ve approached Wiltshire Police for comment; an update is expected on Wednesday morning.
