Arrest warrant issued for Chippenham knifeman after he fails to turn up for sentencing

A Chippenham knifeman is wanted by police after failing to turn up at court.

On 7 December last year, Daniel Lamp, 38, pleaded guilty to possessing a knife in a public place at Swindon Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant, of Pewsham Lock, was caught with the bladed article at Trowbridge Railway Station on 3 September 2021.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be compiled.

Despite a hearing on 18 February being adjourned on the basis that his child had tested positive for Covid, he failed to turn up for sentencing today (1 March).

Keith Ballinger, prosecuting, asked for a warrant not backed for bail.

Justices agreed and issued the warrant. The police will now be tasked with locating and arresting Lamp before bringing him to court.
