Arrest made as police cordon off road in Swindon after ‘serious’ assault

Police have made an arrest after they cordoned off a road in Swindon today (Monday).

Officers were called to a ‘serious’ assault in Cottington Close, Freshbrook, shortly before midday.

Local residents say there was a significant police presence – including a dog unit – at the incident.

The east side of the road was cordoned off, with officers guarding all access points to the area.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and is now at Gablecross custody for questioning.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed the incident was a domestic assault in an address.
