Armed police deployed in Swindon after biker ‘threatened with machete’

Armed police were deployed in Swindon after a biker was ‘threatened with a machete’.

The incident is said to have happened in Purton Road at around 10.40pm on Sunday (2 July).

A man reported that he was travelling through traffic lights on his motorbike when he was threatened by another man on foot with a long object, believed to be a large knife.

Firearms officers were sent to the scene to search for the suspect – a male sporting a balaclava.

Despite carrying out enquiries immediately following the incident, no arrests were made.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “If you saw what happened or have information that can help with our enquiries, please contact us on 101 quoting reference number 54230069236.”
