Armed police response after 999 call reporting women bundling body into car

Armed police officers were dispatched to a street in Swindon last week, after a member of the public called 999 to report two women carrying what they believed was a body.

The women were seen carrying what appeared to be a body bag containing a weighty item to a Volkswagen Polo and loading it into the boot at around 5pm on Friday afternoon.

Specialist firearms officers from Tri-force were called to the scene on Queen Elizabeth Drive and raided a property thought to be connected to the suspected murder. Detectives are understood to have questioned a couple inside the house for some time.

Eventually, the couple’s next door neighbour, Jordan Jack, was contacted about the incident and confirmed that the ‘body’ was in fact his wife-to-be’s wedding dress in protective covering. It was being moved ahead of his wedding to Beth at the weekend.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called just after 5pm on 27 July to an initial report from a passer-by that two women had been seen loading what was believed to be a body into the boot of a vehicle in Queen Elizabeth Drive.

“Our enquiries established that the women were in fact loading a wedding dress into the vehicle. No arrests were made and no crimes committed.”
