Armed police officers descended on village near Swindon amid reports of a GUNMAN

Half a dozen armed police officers descended on a small village near Swindon at the weekend, amid reports of a man carrying a gun in the street.

Wiltshire Police received the call about the suspected gunman, on Greenfields in South Marston, at around 5pm on Saturday evening, and around ten units were dispatched to the scene.

South Western Ambulance Service sent a rapid response car and an ambulance as a precaution.

Despite their search for the gunman, no suspect was found, a spokesperson confirmed.
