Armed police attend address in Trowbridge after domestic disorder in Somerset

Armed police attended an address in Trowbridge this morning following an incident across the county border – in the Somerset area.

Firearms officers, police dogs and the police helicopter were seen in the Orchard Road and Haden Road area of the town from around 10am.

The National Police Air Service helicopter from Bournemouth circled the Longfield area for more than 30 minutes.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were made aware of a domestic disorder at 9 o’clock this morning (11/04) in the Avon and Somerset area by our colleagues at Avon and Somerset Police.

“This led us to an address in Trowbridge.

“Due to the concern for welfare of those involved, armed officers were deployed as a precautionary measure.

“Our enquiries are still ongoing into the incident and local people may notice an increased police presence in the area while we continue our investigations.”
