Ambulance in crash with car near Devizes as medics ‘respond to emergency call’

An ambulance was involved in a crash with a car near Devizes on Friday.

Police were called to the road traffic collision on the A361 Beckhampton Straight shortly before 6pm.

The emergency ambulance was responding to a 999 call when it collided with a car.

South Western Ambulance Service spokesperson said that the incident involved a “double-crewed” ambulance, which was “responding to an emergency call”.

They added: “There were no patients on board”.

The main route between Beckhampton and Devizes was partially blocked whilst recovery was arranged – with the road clear by 7pm.

Wiltshire Police confirmed that nobody was injured in the crash.
