Alleged knifeman arrested as police respond to disorder in Swindon town centre

An alleged knifeman has been arrested following a disorder in Swindon town centre.

Police swarmed Crombey Street following reports of an altercation at around 2pm today (Friday, 9 September)

It was initially reported that two people were fighting in the street, near the junction with Newhall Street.

On arrival at the scene, officers detained a man in his 30s and arrested him.

The suspect was taken to Gablecross custody, where he’s being held on suspicion of common assault, affray and possession of a bladed article.

Wiltshire Police say nobody’s believed to have suffered any serious injuries.
