Man killed in collision with Great Western Railway train in Box Hill tunnel

A man was killed when he was hit by a Great Western Railway train in Box early this morning.

Emergency services raced to the scene, under the bridge on the A4 London Road near Box Tunnel, at around 7.30am on Wednesday following reports of the train strike.

Network Rail professionals worked to clear the body from the line, before reopening it at before 9.44am.

A British Transport Police spokesperson told Wiltshire 999s: “Officers were called to the line in Corsham at 7.30am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
