Air ambulance medics battle to save life at Swindon supermarket

Air ambulance medics have battled to save a life at a Swindon supermarket.

At least eight medical practitioners surrounded a patient who collapsed at The Co-operative Food in Newport Street, Old Town, this afternoon (Monday).

Two ambulances, two ambulance rapid response vehicles, a Wiltshire Air Ambulance rapid response vehicles were spotted in the store’s car park.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s helicopter also landed in a field at Lawn Woods.

Shortly before 2pm – around one hour after 999 crews arrived – the patient was put into an ambulance and taken to Great Western Hospital for further treatment.

The Co-op was closed during the incident, but is believed to have since reopened.
