Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed at the serious incident, touching down in the middle of the stone circle – just behind The Red Lion pub.

A blue Yamaha motorcycle ploughed through a fence around the National Trust-managed site and came to a stop just several metres from one of the Neolithic monuments.

Numerous police vehicles, ambulance crews and a volunteer doctor from the SWIFT Medics charity were all in attendance at the dramatic smash.

The biker sustained injuries that aren’t believed to be significant, not life-changing or life-threatening.

The A4361 past the scene remain open throughout the incident and was only partially blocked for a short time as first responders tended to the patient.

Recovery was arranged for the motorcycle and the scene is expected to be clear by 6.45pm.
