Air ambulance medics treat one casualty after plane crashes into field

Air ambulance medics have treated one casualty following a plane crash near Swindon.

Emergency services were called to the overturned replica Focke-Wulf FW 190 just 200 metres from the A346 in the Draycot Foliat area at around 2pm this afternoon.

Two fire crews, two fire officers, four ambulance Hazardous Area Response Teams, two ambulances, an ambulance rapid response vehicle and a number of police vehicles were at Lower Upham Airfield after the dramatic incident unfolded.

999 crews worked at the scene of the overturned aircraft for three hours

Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed at the scene shortly after 2.15pm, but it’s understood the casualty suffered only minor injuries in the crash.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We are currently assisting other emergency services after a light aircraft came down close to the Lower Upham Airfield.

“At this stage, there is one injured person.”
