Air ambulance help man who dropped 170kg coach wheels onto his chest

Wiltshire Air Ambulance was called to help a man who had dropped two 85kg wheels on his chest while working at a Corsham motor vehicle workshop.

Paramedics were called to Pickwick Motor Works at around 3pm on 8 July.

A male casualty had fallen from a five foot tall ramp whilst attempting to load two 85kg coach wheels on to a van. He fell backwards onto concrete and both wheels then proceeded to fall on top of him from the ramp.

He suffered two chipped vertebrae, three broken ribs, a bruised heart and many other more superficial injuries to his body.

The emergency medics were praised for their fast response and important work by Pickwick Motor Works and his family who work alongside him.

He’s now back at home recovering from the incident.
