Air ambulance and fire crews involved in rescue of casualty from stream in Erlestoke forest

A casualty has been rescued from a stream in a forest south of Devizes late this morning.

The South Western Ambulance Service called on the fire and rescue service for help recovering the male patient from the bottom a ditch with steep embankments in Erlestoke Woods.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service sent two crews — from Devizes and Westbury — to the scene.

A spokesperson confirmed one member of the public was “extricated from the stream using triple extension ladders and lines”.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance was also in attendance.

The casualty was handed over to paramedics, and left on the care of the ambulance service. The exact nature of his injuries, and the condition he is in, is not currently known.
