A420 closed after ‘significant’ crash as 999 crews flock to scene

The A420 near Swindon is closed after a crash – as 999 crews flocked to the scene.

Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the major route in the Faringdon area at around 10pm on New Year’s Eve (31 December).

According to witnesses, more than ten police vehicles, a fire engine and several ambulances were in attendance of the serious incident.

It’s understood a car has left the road on what is known as ‘Plough bend’ locally.

The road remained closed in both directions between Swindon and Faringdon at 5am this morning (Monday), but it’s unclear if it has since reopened.
