UPDATED: Motorcyclist killed in collision with car on A419 in Swindon

A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision with a car on the A419 in Swindon.

Emergency services were called to the incident northbound at around 6.10pm last night, which happened near the junction with Highworth Road (near The Rat Trap public house).

A Yamaha motorcycle and a Kia Sorento were involved in the serious collision.

Police officers performed CPR alongside paramedics and air ambulance critical care medics for 40 minutes before he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, in his 50s, was from Swindon and his family have been informed.

The driver of the Kia is not believed to have been injured.

The road was closed for several hours for collision investigation work and reopened at 10.30pm.
