A419 closed in both directions as emergency services respond to crash

The A419 has been closed in both directions in Swindon this afternoon (29 January).

Emergency services are currently (2.30pm) attending the scene on the northbound carriageway between Junction 15 of the M4 and Commonhead Roundabout.

National Highways have confirmed the A419 northbound is “blocked due to a collision”.

National Highways say one lane is open northbound, but due to a separate collision on the southbound carriageway, it is now closed.

“1 lane has now reopened on the #A419 northbound between #M4 J15 and #A4259 (#Commonhead Rbt) following the collision”, a spokesperson Twittered.

Adding: “Due to a separate collision on the southbound carriageway, traffic is currently being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at the roundabout.”
