A36 crash: Pedestrian in life-threatening condition after being struck by car

The A36 in Wiltshire has been closed following a serious road traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the Codford area at around 10.30pm yesterday (Monday, 31 July).

Wiltshire Air Ambulance was among the 999 crews in attendance – airlifting a man, aged in his 40s, to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with life-threatening injuries.

Wiltshire Police said a car struck the man, but no arrests have been made at this stage.

A spokesperson for the force confirmed the road is expected to remain closed until later today (Tuesday).

They added: “The road remains closed at Heytesbury and Deptford and is likely to remain closed for most of the morning.

“We would ask motorists to use alternative routes.

“Anyone who witnessed this incident should contact us now on 101 and quote log number 343 of July 31.”
