A man’s been taken to hospital after he entered the River Avon.

Police officers were called to Bridge Street in Bradford-on-Avon following a call from paramedics who were treating the casualty, with concerns about a second person in the river.

It was later discovered that there were no further people in the river.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Wiltshire Police received a call at around 10.05pm last night (3 April 2018) from paramedics treating a man who had been in the River Avon in Bradford on Avon.

“There was a concern that they may have been a second person still in the water, so officers attended in case assistance was needed.

“It was then clarified that there was no other person in the river.”

One patient was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath for further treatment.
