Major search and rescue operation underway at Great Western Hospital in Swindon

UPDATE: This missing person has been found safe and well. We received the update two minutes after publishing this initial story.

A major search and rescue operation involving around 20 specially trained volunteers is getting underway at Great Western Hospital this afternoon.

It’s believed that a patient has left the hospital, and is considered to a high risk missing person.

The police helicopter was initially called out to the area at around 11am this morning, and circled over hospital and Coate Water for some time.
