Motorhome destroyed in M4 crash which saw air ambulance land on motorway

A motorhome has been completely destroyed in a serious crash on the M4 this afternoon.

999 crews, including three fire engines, attended the scene between on the westbound carriageway between Junction 16 (Swindon) and Junction 17 (Chippenham) at around 2.30pm.

One casualty was found trapped inside the vehicle and needed to be extracted by firefighters using holmatro cutting equipment and small gear.

The nature of the casualty’s injuries are unknown, but thought to be serious.
