Body of man found in vehicle as police rush to scene near Swindon

The body of a man was found in a vehicle near Swindon yesterday (Sunday, 21 January).

Emergency services were called to Bentham Lane, in Purton, before midday.

According to witnesses, approximately eight police vehicles were attendance.

Wiltshire Police confirmed that the body of a man, aged in his 20s, was discovered in a vehicle – and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A force spokesperson said that his “next of kin have been made aware and are being offered support at this difficult time”.

Adding that the man’s death is “not being treated as suspicious”.

A road closure and crime scene was in place until late evening as detectives, forensics and undertakers attended.
