Man dies as emergency services called to hotel in Swindon

A man has died after emergency services were called to a hotel in Swindon.

Four ambulance vehicles and an air ambulance were sent to reports of an unresponsive patient at the Holiday Inn Express at around 3pm today (Monday, 15 January).

On arrival, a man – aged in his 60s – was found to be in cardiac arrest and urgent treatment was carried out on an upper floor of the hotel in Frankland Road, near Junction 16.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed in a car park on Blagrove Industrial Estate to allow the charity’s specialist critical care medics to provide assistance on scene.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were tasked to assist in removing the casualty from the building. One fire engine and an aerial ladder platform appliance were in attendance.

However, despite the best efforts of first responders, the man was pronounced dead.

Wiltshire Police were called to the incident, with at least two officers on scene. However, there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

“Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this time”, a force spokesperson said.
