Manhunt as convicted murderer absconds and goes on the run

A manhunt is underway after a convicted murderer absconded and went on the run.

67-year-old Carl Hyde has breached his licence conditions after being released from prison.

The killer, who has connections to Reading in Berkshire, disappeared from his ‘approved premises’ in Peterborough – sparking an urgent search.

Hyde is understood to have committed the murder in 1988 and is serving a life sentence.

“The public are advised not to approach Hyde, but to contact police with information on his whereabouts”, a spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Constabulary said.

Anyone who knows his whereabouts should contact police on 999. Anyone with less time sensitive information should report it online quoting incident 336 of 1 January.
