Apache helicopter ‘blown over’ near Wiltshire in Storm Henk

An Apache helicopter has ‘blown over’ on an airfield near Wiltshire.

The incident at the Army Aviation Centre in Middle Wallop, near Amesbury, happened as a result of Storm Henk – which is battering the UK with strong winds.

An insider told Wiltshire 999s that the attack chopper fell onto its side before sliding along the airfield, which is located just over the county border in Hampshire.

Firefighters from Defence Fire and Rescue, alongside army medics, are attending the scene. It’s not yet clear if anyone’s been injured.

Two ropes appear to have been attached to the aircraft to prevent it moving further in the wind.
