Heavy snow set to bring Wiltshire to a standstill next week predicts the Met Office

Heavy snowfall and gale-force winds are set to cause havoc on Wiltshire’s roads next week, with the Met Office predicting power lines and mobile phones to be affected.

Long periods of snow are expected across the county on Tuesday and then again on Thursday, accompanied by very low temperatures of a low as -6°C/32°F.

The Met Office said: “Snow showers or longer periods of snow are expected on Tuesday, accompanied by very low temperatures. There is the potential for travel delays on roads, with some stranded vehicles and passengers, as well as delays or cancellations to rail and air travel.

“Some rural communities could become cut off. Power cuts may also occur and other services, such as mobile phones, may be affected.”
