Railway blocked as police officers respond to ‘trespassers on the line’

The railway is blocked as police officers respond to an incident west of Swindon.

The main line between Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads is temporarily closed due to ‘trespassers on the line’ this evening (Friday).

Local police and the British Transport Police are dealing.

Trains between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads are delayed, with disruption expected until 9.30pm.

In a statement, Great Western Railway said: “Due to trespassers on the railway between Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads, all lines are blocked.

“Train services between Bristol Temple Meads and Westbury may be delayed.

“Train services between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads may also be delayed or diverted between Swindon and Bristol Temple Meads.

“Disruption is expected until 21:30.”
