BMW torched on Chippenham driveway – police fear arson attack

Police are investigating a suspected arson attack involving a vehicle in Chippenham.

A BMW was torched on a driveway in Goldney Avenue at around 10.45pm on Sunday (17 December).

Firefighters raced to the scene, 200 metres from Chippenham Fire Station, and put out the flames.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said that “two breathing apparatus wearers used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire”.

They added that the incident was “left with the police as we believe the cause to be of doubtful origin” – implying it was a deliberate set alight.

Wiltshire Police confirmed that officers were tasked to the scene, which an investigation launched into the circumstances.
