Swindon route closed by police after two schoolchildren struck by car

A Swindon route has been closed by police following a crash involving child casualties.

Emergency services were called to Beechcroft Road, near St Philip’s Church, after two schoolchildren were struck by a car at around 3.15pm .

Police and the ambulance service are in attendance, as are a number of local teachers.

The road is shut between Cricklade Road and Meadowcroft whilst emergency services attend.

“Drivers, please be aware, Beechcroft Road in Swindon is currently closed in both directions following a collision involving two children and a car”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.

They added: “The collision happened just before 3.15pm today.

“The road is likely to remain closed during rush hour. Please avoid the area.”

UPDATE: The road reopened at around 5pm.
