Police at the scene shortly after the stabbing

UPDATE: Woman, 30s, stabbed during Swindon burglary as two men arrested

Police swooped on a Swindon street following a ‘serious incident’ today (Wednesday).

At least half a dozen marked and unmarked police vehicles and two ambulances rushed into Verwood Close, Park North, at around 1pm this afternoon.

The road was blocked off by officers, who prevented members of the public accessing the area from Bridport Road and via the footpath between Welcombe Avenue and Whitbourne Avenue.

PCSOs and plain-clothed officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries – asking locals if they heard screaming or have CCTV footage of events that unfolded.

Forensic investigators were also in attendance.

Further details are currently unknown, but it’s believed some form of assault took place. Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment.
