Swindon bus station assault: Man arrested as woman hospitalised

A man has been arrested following an assault at Swindon bus station.

Police were called to reports of a disorder at the town centre site, located off Manchester Road, at around 8.45pm yesterday (Wednesday, 9 November).

A woman, aged in her 20s, suffered a medical episode after the assault and paramedics rushed to the scene to provide treatment.

Officers taped off the station whilst ambulance crews provided medical care and got the patient conveyed to hospital.

During the incident, an emergency worker – believed to be a police officer – was also assaulted.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault, section 5 public order and assault on an emergency worker, according to Wiltshire Police.

The suspect was taken to hospital to be treated for an injury sustained during his arrest, before he was transferred to Gablecross custody for questioning.
