Warning over smoke plume as Wiltshire firefighters tackle barn blaze

Several fire crews are currently tackling a barn blaze in the Wiltshire countryside.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) were called to the scene in Granham, Marlborough, in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

Three fire engines and three water carriers are in attendance, along with fire officers.

Crews from Swindon, Stratton, Marlborough, Royal Wootton Bassett, Pewsey and Andover are at the incident.

On-call firefighters at Swindon and Stratton fire stations are providing over across the borough as wholetime crews fight the flames.

A DWFRS said Marlborough residents “should keeps windows and doors shut if concerned” about the smoke plume – which is moving towards the town.

Firefighting efforts are expected to continue into this afternoon.
