Air ambulance medics at scene of serious crash between car and motorcycle

Emergency services, including critical care medics from Wiltshire Air Ambulance, are at the scene of a serious road traffic collision between a car and a motorcycle in Swindon tonight.

The incident happened at around 7.30pm this evening, at the entrance to the Esso petrol station on Fleming Way near the Magic Roundabout.

For around 25 minutes, police officers and firefighters were forced to provide emergency medical care as there were no ambulances available to attend immediately.

The motorcyclist’s shoe attached to the car involved

Two rapid response ambulances arrived at the scene at just before 8pm, with an ambulance arriving a short time later. Critical care medics from Wiltshire Air Ambulance arrived at 8.20pm.

A man’s understood to have suffered a serious leg injury in the collision with a Volvo. One of the motorcyclist’s shoes has been left attached to the front of the seriously damaged vehicle.

Update at 10.30am Sunday 28 January: The biker suffered a serious leg injury in the crash and is awaiting an operation in hospital. Luckily, he suffered no other notable injuries.
