Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital as road closed for crash investigation

A busy main road in Wiltshire has been closed for crash investigation work today (Tuesday).

Emergency services were called to a three-vehicle road traffic collision on the A342 between Wilsford and Rushall at around 9.30am.

The incident involved a motorcycle and two cars – a red Mazda and a grey Ford – on the S-bends outside The Charlton Cat tea rooms.

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was tasked to the scene to assist local ambulance crews after the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries to his pelvis.

He was subsequently airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

The occupants of the cars aren’t believed to have sustained any injuries.

A forensic collision investigation was undertaken – with the road remaining closed until about 3pm.
