Arrest made as man suffers head injury in Melksham hammer attack

An arrest has been made after a man was attacked with a hammer in Melksham.

Police officers raced to reports of a serious assault in Milton Avenue at around 8.30pm last night (Friday, 29 September).

A man, aged in his 20s, was found to have sustained a head wound – believed to be caused by a hammer – which required medical attention at hospital.

His injury is not believed to be physically life-changing or life-threatening.

Wiltshire Police confirmed a man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

After being questioned in custody, he was released on bail as the investigation into events continue.

A spokesperson said: “Officers have been carrying out an investigation including house to house and CCTV enquiries.
