Police give home security advice following Westbury sex attack

Wiltshire Police have issued home security advice and a witness appeal following a sexual assault inside a property in Westbury late yesterday night.

The reported incident happened around 11.30pm, on Wednesday 8 February, at a property in the Market Place area, close to All Saints Church.

The unknown suspect is described as: white, aged 20 – 30-years-old, tall with pronounced ears and short, dark hair. He was wearing a white jacket with blue markings and blue jeans.

The victim was left very shaken but not physically hurt, she is receiving support from specialist officers.

Det Con Keith Harford said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have heard or seen a man acting suspiciously in this area of Westbury last night.

“Extra patrols will be carried out in the town tonight and for the next few days – if you have any information to report to police you can speak to the officers on patrol or call us on 101.”

Wiltshire Police would like to remind people of home security advice:

• Keep all doors locked even when you are in the house to prevent people walking in without you knowing and double check they are locked at night.

• Fit doors with mortice locks

• All windows should be fitted with locks except those designated as fire escapes and remember to use them especially for windows on the ground floor.
