A small section of the Western Flyer cycle path is also taped off between the alleyway and the Great Western Way underpass – but remains passable on the grass.

Two detectives have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the vicinity.

Locals report seeing a police presence from around 5am, but it’s not clear when officer first arrived.

Wiltshire Police said local residents “see an increased police presence in the area”.

Adding: “We are in the very early stages of this investigation and will provide updates when possible.”
